Sebastian sails as Chef aboard M/Y Harle, where he is able to combine his love of cooking and traveling in order to explore cuisines from all over the world. Born in Koblenz, Germany, Sebastian moved to South Africa with his family when he was just three months old. After a brief stint at college for marketing management, Sebastian followed in his chef father’s footsteps and started his culinary training at a seaside café in Cape Town. He completed a three-year apprenticeship at a popular Cape Town restaurant, Empire, and also catered for international film crews that were traveling around South Africa. At 22, Sebastian set his sights farther afield, moving to London and working in the high-end restaurant Electric in Notting Hill and then in the busy hotspot Tiger Tiger in Piccadilly Circus. Sebastian then returned to South Africa and worked his way up the ranks to become Head Chef at Caveau, a wine bar with creative tapas and bistro fare.
After tirelessly working to develop his culinary skills on land, in 2010 Sebastian moved to the South of France to pursue a career as a yacht chef. His time on yachts has allowed him to travel much of the world, and he counts Nicaragua and Alaska as some of his favorite cruising grounds.
Chef Sebastian caters to all dietary needs and is eager to work with guests to design menus to make their time aboard Harle exceptional. Sebastian looks forward to exploring and experimenting with fresh, local flavors, and he is excited to share his culinary journey with his guests.
